Santa Croce is one of the smallest sestieres of Venice, and often
gets swallowed up into San Polo in city guides. This is a shame,
as although it lacks attractions as such, it has many narrow backstreets,
with bars and restaurants waiting to be discovered by the more adventurous
visitor. The Sestiere of S. Croce, once a centre for the working
of wool and other crafts important for the city's economy, is in
a strategic and comfortable point for those arriving from the station
or the Piazzale Roma, efficiently served by public transport.
